A hint word of KNOT confirmed that we were hunting for boating terminology rather than words that describe people who enjoy taking charge and bossing people about.
That said, the first words I found myself — MARK and COURSE — are hardly exclusively nautical.
It wasn’t until my fourth game word, FATHOM, that I finally set sail on today’s voyage and cleared up the board, but it was far from plain sailing.
A chef’s kiss though for the puzzle makers for fashioning today’s sailing ship-shaped spangram. Impressive.
