De’Longhi Magnifica Start: Two-minute review

The De’Longhi Magnifica Start is one of the Italian manufacturer’s more affordable automatic bean-to-cup coffee machines, designed to take much of the effort out of preparing fresh coffee at home. It doesn’t offer the extensive drinks menu or customization options of more expensive models, but it benefits from the company’s LatteCrema automatic milk frothing system, making it a potentially appealing choice for anyone who enjoys milk-based coffee.

The particular model I have on test here, the ECAM220.61.W, offers just four one-touch functions — namely espresso, coffee, latte macchiato and hot water — meaning only three are actually coffee drinks. Other versions of the Magnifica Start offer different selections, so it’s worth double-checking exactly which model you’re buying.
