Samsung has officially announced the One UI 5 Watch software, which is the newest generation of smartwatch software for the company’s Galaxy Watch series. The One UI 5 Watch is based on the Google WearOS 4 platform and will incorporate new features from Google as well as Samsung. The Korean tech manufacturer has said that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series will be getting the new software update in due course of time.

The Korean tech giant has revealed that the new software will focus primarily on sleep, fitness, and safety which will add to the user experience. The new software will be able to track and better understand users’ sleep patterns. It will also facilitate more advanced fitness features and get an upgraded SOS system. The company has promised that the new One UI 5 Watch software will get more features, which it will disclose at a later date.

The Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will get this new software update. Other Samsung Galaxy watches do not use Google’s WearOS platform. The software can be expected to come built-in on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series when it launches later this year and will be rolled out for the above-mentioned smartwatches.

However, if Google maintains its WearOS launch timeline of exactly a year, the new WearOS 4 can only be expected to be launched in September 2023. In that case, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, which is expected to debut sometime in July might be made available on a current version of the software.
