The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix have been cancelled following the troubling situation in the Middle East. This means there will be no Formula One action throughout April, with the paddock set to return in the first week of May for the Miami Grand Prix.
But while the Mercedes vs Ferrari vs McLaren battle – and the drivers’ fight against the new regulations – takes a backseat this month, there’s still plenty of sporting action around the world to keep you entertained, from cricket to tennis to golf, and of course, football.

This 7,768-yard, par-72 course in Augusta is one of the most famous in the world. It’s renowned not only for its beauty but also its dramatic elevation changes. After all, it was built on a former plant nursery, which is also why its holes are named after local plants.
Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win the title, thanks to his dominant 2025 season and excellent record at Augusta. McIlroy, meanwhile, is flying high after completing his career Grand Slam in 2025 – he’s also currently world number two.

Indian Premier League (March 28-May 31) — Cricket
The IPL is a two-month-long bonanza for cricket fans, who get to see the best of Indian and global talent compete in a 10-team format, featuring the “impact player” rule that allows teams to use up to 12 players in a match – something not typically associated with cricket.
One of the biggest storylines this season, as every year, will be how Indian superstars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni perform. Kohli and Sharma have already made blistering starts, while Dhoni has been ruled out for a few weeks due to a calf injury.
The best part about the IPL is its non-stop entertainment, with at least one match every day, and two on certain weekends, delivering continuous action throughout April.

Monte-Carlo Masters (April 5-12) — Tennis
As has been the case on the men’s tennis tour over the last 2-3 years, the Monte Carlo Masters 2026 will likely see reigning world number one Carlos Alcaraz and his arch-nemesis Jannik Sinner go head-to-head. Sinner has been in terrific form, winning the Sunshine Double – Indian Wells and the Miami Open – without dropping a single set.
However, Sinner’s recent excellence has come on hard courts, while the Monte Carlo Masters is played on clay, often serving as an early warm-up for the French Open later this year. The ATP-1000 tournament will be held at the Monte Carlo Country Club, with the main draw starting on Friday, March 4, and the draw expected to be announced a couple of days prior.
Unfortunately, this year’s tournament has seen a number of withdrawals, most notably Novak Djokovic, USA number one Taylor Fritz, and Great Britain’s Jack Draper. Still, there will be plenty of action to look forward to, especially with Cameron Norrie in the mix, while veterans Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka have been granted wild cards.

Man City vs Arsenal (April 19) — Football
We’re getting to the business end of the Premier League 2025/26 season, with Manchester City set to host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on April 19. Arsenal currently lead the table with 70 points – a solid nine-point advantage over City, who sit second.
However, the Citizens have played one game fewer than the Gunners, giving them a real chance to close the gap. That makes this fixture all the more crucial. A win for Arsenal could take them closer to a fourth Premier League title.
Standing in their way are Pep Guardiola’s men, who have won the league four times in the last five seasons. While City will rely on the dependable services of Erling Haaland and Rodri, Arsenal will hope Viktor Gyokeres continues to find the net.
The two teams met recently at the Carabao Cup 2025-26 final, which saw the Citizens grab the title after an emphatic 2-0 victory over Mikel Arteta’s side. Will City show their pedigree in a big Premier League match, or will Arsenal hold their nerve to continue their dominance?

Champions League Quarter-Finals (April 7-8, 14-15) — Football
The UEFA Champions League 2025-26 season is heating up, with the quarter-finals set to kick off in April. Only eight teams remain, each eyeing the coveted silverware.
While Real Madrid, with 15 titles (the last coming in 2024), will take on Bayern Munich, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain will face Liverpool, who last won the competition in 2019.
Fan-favorite and seasoned campaigners Barcelona will meet Atletico Madrid, who are still chasing their maiden title. Meanwhile, Arsenal, current Premier League table-toppers, will look to end their Champions League drought by defeating Sporting CP and booking a place in the semis.
