Snapdragon 7s Gen 2

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a new mid-range SoC that Qualcomm has unveiled. The new chip, which is based on a 4nm production node, offers Quick Charge 4+, which the manufacturer claims can charge a device from 0 to 50% in only five minutes and can achieve peak rates of 2.4GHz.

The four octacore SoC cores can run at speeds of up to 2.4GHz, while the other four cores are more power-efficient and run at 1.95GHz. The new SoC supports FHD+ resolution, refresh rates up to 144Hz, and comes with Variable Rate Shading, albeit the company has not yet disclosed information regarding the GPU.
The SoC’s camera features Qualcomm’s Spectra 12-bit ISP and the ability to record 4K HDR footage at 30 frames per second. Additionally, it enables simultaneous image capture from three cameras and an AI De-Noising technology that was developed using a neural network to reduce noise in photographs taken in low light and from 200MP camera sensors.

For phone makers who don’t want to use the Snapdragon 8 series SoCs, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 could be a good option. However, despite the’s’ suffix, the new chipset might not perform as well as the company’s own Snapdragon 7 Gen 2.

The new mid-range SoC will debut in the upcoming Redmi Note 13 Pro, Xiaomi has stated on the Chinese social media site Weibo. The 200MP ISOCELL HP3 Discovery Edition sensor from Samsung was revealed by the smartphone manufacturer along with several camera samples from the device, which will reportedly go on sale in China on September 21.
