Most of the best VPN deals are only available on two-year plans. But this time, Windscribe has bucked the trend.
On July 1, the company announced the chance to save $20 when you sign up using the promo code NOBACKDR.
The promo brings the price of its 1-year plan down to $49 — making it nearly $20 cheaper than NordVPN’s equivalent one-year tier ($65.88).
Unlike most of the best VPNs, Windscribe only offers one-year and monthly plans. Thankfully, it doesn’t impose price hikes at the end of your subscription, unlike NordVPN which rises to $139 after the first year.
Its R.O.B.E.R.T phishing blocking tool is also effective, blocking 76% of the malicious links we threw at it. More impressively, it blocked 97% of ads too.
For the moment, its only real weakness is streaming. It couldn’t unblock YouTube in the US or Prime Video in Japan at all. It also faced some minor issues with Prime Video US and Canada, and Disney+ in Australia and Japan.
While US YouTube proved tricky for even the best streaming VPNs, this performance isn’t as good as we’d expect. So if streaming is your priority, I’d recommend looking towards NordVPN, Norton VPN, or Proton for the time being.
