Melon Music Awards: On November 16, the first phase of voting for the prestigious Top 10 artists concluded, unveiling the winners on the subsequent day. The Melon Music Awards (MMA) 2023, replacing its traditional KBS Song Festival, has now shifted the focus to the next phase of voting, where fans can cast their votes for the highly coveted Daesangs (Grand Prizes) and various category awards.

Eligible for recognition are musical releases spanning from November 4, 2022, to November 1, 2023, ensuring that the most recent and impactful contributions to the music industry are duly celebrated.

In a refreshing addition, Melon has introduced the Millions Top 10 awards, acknowledging albums that have achieved over 1 million streams on the platform within the initial 24 hours of release. The assessment for these awards will be based on 80 percent Melon download and streaming counts and 20 percent on fan votes.

Voting for other awards, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year, follows a 60-20-20 formula, with Melon download and streaming counts holding the majority. Exceptions are made for categories like Best Music Style and the KakaoBank Favourite Star Award, which incorporate judges’ evaluations and fan votes differently.

The nominee list includes a diverse array of top-notch artists across various categories, promising a tight competition and an evening of remarkable musical performances. Notable contenders for Artist of the Year include aespa, BTS, (G)I-DLE, and SEVENTEEN, while Album of the Year sees nominees such as aespa’s ‘MY WORLD’ and NCT DREAM’s ‘ISTJ’. The Best Song of the Year category boasts hits like aespa’s ‘Spicy’ and NCT DREAM’s ‘Candy’.

The New Artist of the Year category introduces BOYNEXTDOOR, KISS OF LIFE, PLAVE, RIIZE, and ZEROBASEONE as promising newcomers, while Best Group (Female) and Best Group (Male) feature esteemed groups like aespa and BTS.

The voting window is open until December 1 for Melon users with verified accounts, with winners eagerly anticipated to be revealed at the Melon Music Awards on December 2 at 5 pm KST. As the excitement builds, fans worldwide eagerly anticipate the crowning of their favourite artists and the celebration of another incredible year in the music industry.
